About the Hsinchu City Marathon

Hsinchu City Government co-organizes this urban marathon, which limits the full-distance field to 1,500 runners. The race starts early from Shulintou and shares the morning with shorter events while maintaining its own entry selector, timing and course limits.

Course

The 42.195-kilometre route moves through central Hsinchu, parkland and a riverside bikeway before spending a long section near the coast. The organizer publishes intermediate controls at 5K, 10K and 26K and gives marathoners six hours to finish.

Race-day weather

Hsinchu is known for wind, and the northeast monsoon can make December's exposed coastal kilometres feel cooler than the thermometer suggests. Light rain is also possible, so effort can vary sharply with wind direction.
