About the Havasu Half Marathon
A March charity half marathon on the Colorado River in western Arizona, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of the Colorado River. Recent fields have run 262 to 377 half marathon finishers, with a Friday evening expo and dog run leading into race morning.
Course
The course starts and finishes at London Bridge Beach and never gets more than 440 yards from the Colorado River. Runners cross the London Bridge near mile 1 and again around mile 9, and those two crossings are the only real climbs at roughly 33 feet above the start. Most of the route is on town roads, with the last four miles on a bike path around Havasu Island.
Race-day weather
Early March in Lake Havasu City is usually dry and mild, with starts in the 40s to low 50s and afternoon highs well above that. The 6:30 a.m. start keeps the field ahead of the desert sun, but the low humidity still makes steady drinking worthwhile.
