Quick facts
- Germany's biggest spring marathon, with a very large field.
- Late-April timing makes it a popular European spring goal race.
- Large crowds and a mass-race feel shape the opening miles.
- Rain and wind are both realistic race-day variables.
- Results live on the main race site.
Course
Hamburg has the feel of a big urban road marathon rather than a cramped old-town route. Broad streets and a large field help create momentum, but the size of the race can make it easy to go out a little too hard if you follow the crowd.
Race-day weather
Late April in Hamburg often means a cool start and workable marathon temperatures. Rain and wind are both realistic, so it is worth being ready for a slightly scrappier day than the calendar alone might suggest.
About the Haspa Marathon Hamburg
