About the Gobi March
The Gobi March is RacingThePlanet's Mongolian stage race and one of the original 4 Deserts events. The host meeting is in Ulaanbaatar, but the competition moves into the Orkhon Valley and camp life becomes part of the week. Runners carry their food and equipment between checkpoints while the organizer supplies water, tents, and medical support.
Course
Six stages add up to 250 km through the Orkhon Valley. Open grassland, sandy sections, rocky valleys, historical sites, and repeated river crossings replace the dune-heavy image many runners associate with the Gobi name. The route is marked, but the long stage and exposed terrain still reward careful effort and gear management.
