About the Giants Head Marathon
Sydling St Nicholas is the hub for this distinctive Dorset trail weekend. The Saturday marathon is separate from Sunday's half and combines hard climbing with the atmosphere of a small village event.
Course
Steep trails cross the Sydling and Cerne valleys through open downs and rural paths. The elevation, uneven ground and repeated climbs call for trail shoes, hiking efficiency and realistic pacing.
Race-day weather
June in Dorset may be mild and breezy, but rain can make chalk, grass and farm paths slick. Open hills also leave runners exposed to sun when the weather turns warm.
