About the Galveston Ultra Trail 50K
Trail Racing Over Texas brings its beach-ultra format to Galveston Island, where the 50K travels the shoreline point to point while shorter distances, a 50K relay, a ruck division, and a kids run share the East Beach event area. The organizer runs a busy Texas trail calendar, and this one trades hill country dirt for open coastline.
Course
The 50K runs west to east along the beach and finishes at East Beach, with most miles on hard-packed sand near the waterline. There is no shade and almost no elevation, so wind direction and footing on softer stretches decide how fast the day feels. Shorter races use out-and-back shoreline routes around East Beach.
Race-day weather
Mid-October on the Texas coast is usually warm and humid, with starts in the 60s or 70s and steady sun once the morning burns off. The early start helps, but salt air, wind, and full exposure make fluids and sun protection matter more than temperature alone.
