About the Finger Lakes 50s 50 Mile

This long-running July ultra uses a compact loop in Finger Lakes National Forest. Three full circuits plus a short finishing loop create frequent aid access, but summer conditions and repeated terrain keep the race honest.

Course

Runners complete three 16.5-mile loops and a final half-mile circuit. The route is about 85 percent singletrack, with cow pasture, dirt and paved roads, boardwalks, and roughly 1,300 feet of climbing per main loop.

Race-day weather

July heat and humidity are central race-day variables. Rain can turn trail and pasture sections muddy, while damp boardwalks and roots require care even when overall pace feels runnable.
