Fehmarn Marathon
Fehmarn Marathon offers a small Baltic island road race through open fields and coastal villages, where flat terrain leaves runners exposed to wind.
Quick facts
- Small marathon on Germany's Baltic coast.
- Rural island roads are flat and highly exposed.
- Wind is usually a greater challenge than climbing.
- Multiple race distances share the Fehmarn event.
About the Fehmarn Marathon
The event brings several distances to the German island of Fehmarn. Its low-key organization and rural scenery make it a quiet alternative to a crowded urban marathon.
Course
The road route is flat to gently rolling across the island's agricultural landscape. Long exposed stretches and directional changes make wind the principal pacing complication.
Race-day weather
Early September is mild, but Baltic wind and showers can arrive quickly. Little shelter on rural sections means conditions may feel cooler than the thermometer suggests.
