Quick facts

  • Peninsula road course through Placencia, Seine Bight, and Maya Beach.
  • Early-morning start before the strongest tropical sun.
  • All event proceeds fund scholarships for Belizean youth.
  • Marathon and half marathon start separately and share the finish.

About the End of the World Marathon

This small Belize race directs all event proceeds to university and trade-school scholarships for local young people. The charity mission is central, but runners still get a fully supported 26.2-mile road event through the Placencia Peninsula.

Course

From the football field near the bottom of the peninsula, runners pass through Placencia Village, Seine Bight, and Maya Beach, then loop back south of Riversdale to finish in Placencia. Frequent water stations support the long exposed road sections.

Race-day weather

December in coastal Belize is tropical, so a pre-dawn start does not eliminate warmth or humidity. Caribbean breeze may help, but exposed peninsula roads can feel hot once the sun rises.
