About the EMU 6-Day Race
The EMU 6-Day Race brings an international field to the shore of Lake Balaton for 144 hours of continuous running. The competition is simple to describe and difficult to manage: cover more distance than anyone else while balancing pace, food, foot care, sleep, and the work of a crew.
Course
Runners circle a traffic-free 898.2 meter asphalt loop at Fured Camping. Automated chip timing counts full laps, and the final partial lap is measured at the end of 144 hours. The compact layout keeps crews close and makes small pacing mistakes repeat hundreds of times.
Race-day weather
Early September can bring warm afternoons beside Lake Balaton, followed by much cooler nights. Sun, rain, and repeated temperature swings all matter during a race that stays active for six days.
