Course
The marathon starts at 9:00 a.m. from the start and finish area inside McKinney Roughs Nature Park with a 3.7-mile opening lap, then runs two laps of the 11.3-mile Main Loop that the ultra distances share, on trails along the Colorado River that organizers describe as challenging terrain. Aid stations stock drinks, fruit, cookies, breakfast bars, chips and soft drinks, with medical help on hand. The park stays open to the public on race day, so expect to share the trails with other visitors.
Race-day weather
Late November in central Texas is often mild, but a cold front can bring a chilly start, and a sunny afternoon can still feel warm on exposed trail. Dress in layers and check the forecast in the final days before the race.
