Cocodona 250

The Cocodona 250 is Aravaipa Running's point-to-point flagship ultra across central and northern Arizona. It starts near Black Canyon City and finishes in downtown Flagstaff, drawing close attention from trail and ultra runners because the race unfolds over several days with public tracking and livestream coverage.

The 250-mile route links desert, mining roads, high country, Sedona red rock, the Arizona Trail, Mount Elden, and the Flagstaff finish. The course is mostly single-track and double-track with only a small pavement share, and the climbing is large enough that pacing, sleep strategy, crew planning, and heat management matter as much as raw speed.

Early May can give runners hot exposed desert miles near the start, colder nights in the mountains, and thin, variable conditions near Flagstaff. The weather challenge is not one thing: it is the swing from low desert heat to high-elevation cold over multiple days.
