About the Buckeye Marathon
This western Arizona marathon is built around a point-to-point run from Festival Foothills to Buckeye Municipal Airport. The city-backed event also raises money for the Buckeye Youth Scholarship Fund.
Course
The route begins at Festival Foothills Elementary School, circles the White Tank Mountain area, and finishes beside the airport runway. Marathoners lose more than 530 feet overall, have six hours to finish, and receive aid roughly every two miles through mile 20.
Race-day weather
January in the Sonoran Desert can feel cold at the start before dry sunshine warms the course quickly. Exposed roads and light desert wind can magnify the temperature swing, so removable layers are useful.
