About the Arctic Marathon
Starting on the Arctic Circle, this is a snow-running expedition packaged with several days in Finnish Lapland. The field stays small, and most runners enter for the cold-weather challenge rather than a conventional road-marathon experience.
Course
About 90 percent of the 42K follows dirt covered by snow, mixing snow roads with forest singletrack around Santa Claus Village. Total elevation change is modest at roughly 120 meters up and down, but short steep slopes and ice complicate footing.
