About the Anchorage RunFest 49K Ultra
The 49K is RunFest's ultra-distance race and a fundraiser for the Anchorage Running Club. It shares the Sunday program with the marathon and half but keeps its own distance, field limit and awards.
Course
The certified 49K route mixes Anchorage roads and greenbelt paths with five meaningful hills. A 3:30 p.m. cutoff and small field make pacing and self-awareness important throughout the course.
Race-day weather
Mid-August in Anchorage can be cool, rainy and breezy even when much of the country is hot. Light layers and protection from steady rain are more useful than heat-only planning.
