Addisu Gobena won the 2026 Sydney Marathon in a course-record 2:04:42, while Peres Jepchirchir won the women's race in 2:18:31.

Gobena wins by four seconds

The official results list Gobena at 2:04:42, with Chimdessa Debele Gudeta second in 2:04:46. World Athletics reports that Gobena's time lowered the previous course record of 2:06:06 by 1 minute and 24 seconds, while Jepchirchir's 2:18:31 was nine seconds outside Sifan Hassan's women's course record. Romanchuk and Schär lead the wheelchair divisions

The same official result set lists Romanchuk first in the wheelchair men's race and Schär first in the wheelchair women's race. ABC News reported that Romanchuk's 1:26:50 lowered Marcel Hug's 2025 course record by 25 seconds and Schär's 1:42:04 lowered Susannah Scaroni's course record by 2 minutes and 48 seconds.
