Andreas Almgren of Sweden won the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon in 2:06:01 in his marathon debut. Sheila Chepkirui won the women's race in 2:24:36. Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner won the wheelchair races.
Andreas Almgren of Sweden won the New York City Marathon on Sunday in 2:06:01 in his marathon debut, 13 seconds ahead of Yemaneberhan Crippa of Italy. He's the first Swede to win New York and the first to win any major marathon, NBC Sports reported. Americans held the top three places at 35K, with Conner Mantz in front in 1:45:33, according to FloTrack's splits, but none finished on the podium. Zouhair Talbi was the top American in sixth in 2:06:43 and Mantz was 11th in 2:07:27.
Sheila Chepkirui of Kenya won the women's race in 2:24:36, her second New York title after 2024. She pulled away from two-time winner Hellen Obiri in the final 150 meters. Jessica McClain of the United States passed Obiri in the last strides to take second, 6 seconds back, which the Associated Press called the first top-three finish by a U.S. woman since 2018. Edna Kiplagat, the 2010 champion, was fourth at 46.
These times are unofficial, from NBC Sports and FloTrack. NYRR's results site wasn't showing the 2026 race when this was published, so we'll update this story when it does.
