About the Tryptophan Half Marathon
Now in its second decade, this Thanksgiving Day event draws families and visiting relatives more than serious racers, and the half marathon has settled near 100 to 140 finishers. A virtual entry exists, but the in person race is the main event.
Course
Suburban roads around Cumming starting in front of the shopping center on Peachtree Parkway, with a 7:30 half marathon start ahead of the 10K and 5K. Expect rolling north Georgia terrain rather than a flat course, and traffic managed rather than fully closed roads.
Race-day weather
Thanksgiving morning in north Georgia is usually cold at the start, often in the 30s, warming into the 50s. Clear and crisp is the norm, so dress for a chilly first few miles.
