TCS Amsterdam Marathon

Amsterdam combines a city marathon with quieter miles beside the Amstel. The flat road course passes under the Rijksmuseum, follows the river past mansions and windmills, and returns through Vondelpark before finishing inside the Olympic Stadium. The contrast between city streets, riverside running and the stadium finish is central to the race's character.

Planning for 2026: Collect your bib at the Marathon Expo in RAI Amsterdam before race day. Use the personal QR code in the Le Champion app; someone else can collect for you with that code. There is no Sunday bib collection. Check the expo information and event programme when arranging your arrival.

The marathon is a flat road course through Amsterdam, with stretches alongside the Amstel and a finish in the Olympic Stadium. River sections and city streets give the course a different rhythm from a race contained entirely in the centre.

2026 start and baggage arrangements: Runners use two start areas: Area A inside the Olympic Stadium and Area B on Stadionweg outside it. Follow the area and wave assigned to your bib rather than assuming every runner starts inside the stadium. Baggage tents also differ: the Athletes Only Zone for Area A and IJsbaanpad for Area B. Access to Area A's Athletes Only Zone is single-entry, so leaving it means you cannot re-enter.

The marathon has a six-hour time limit. The organizer publishes intermediate cutoffs as well as the finish closure; consult the full-marathon instructions for your wave, start-area map, baggage arrangements and course support.

Mid-October in Amsterdam is often cool, damp, and wind-sensitive. The flat profile helps speed, but exposed river and park sections still reward controlled effort.
