Springfield Marathon
Springfield Marathon repeats a certified road loop from an Illinois vineyard, giving small-field runners a November Boston qualifying chance.
Quick facts
- Certified Illinois Boston qualifier
- Two-loop road marathon
- Vineyard venue in New Berlin
- Separate from the Harvest Wind shorter races
About the Springfield Marathon
Despite the name, the event base is Danenberger Family Vineyards in New Berlin, west of Springfield. The standalone marathon shares the venue with shorter Harvest Wind races but keeps its own identity.
Course
Marathoners complete two circuits of the certified road course. The repeated layout helps runners anticipate grades and turns on lap two, while wine-country roads provide a quieter setting than downtown Springfield.
Race-day weather
November in central Illinois can be cold, windy and raw or pleasantly cool. Open farm roads amplify gusts, and rain may make the second loop feel much colder than the first.

Yes. Springfield Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
