Santa Hustle Galveston Half Marathon
Thirteen flat miles on the Galveston seawall beside the Gulf, run in Santa hats at sunrise, where wind off the water is the only real variable.
Quick facts
- Flat seawall out-and-back with open Gulf views for the full distance.
- Onshore wind, not terrain, decides whether the day is fast.
- Costume-heavy field with cookies, candy, and cocoa at the finish.
- Half, 10K, 5K, and a kids dash all run the same morning.

About the Santa Hustle Galveston Half Marathon
Galveston is the Gulf Coast stop on the Santa Hustle circuit, a holiday half series that has been running since 2011. Costumes are the norm, the mid-December date lands after most of the Texas fall racing is over, and the course is about as simple as a half marathon gets.
Course
The route starts and finishes at Beach Central and runs the seawall out and back next to the Gulf. There is effectively no elevation, and the sunrise over the water arrives early in the race. Half and 5K runners share the turnaround area, which gets crowded.
Race-day weather
Mid-December on the Texas coast usually means 50s at the start, high humidity, and a steady onshore breeze. It is mild enough to race hard, but the seawall gives no shelter when the wind picks up.
