Quick facts
- Two loops of Schweitzer's front-side mountain course above Sandpoint.
- Steep climbs, singletrack, and lake views rather than runnable road miles.
- Mountain weather at Schweitzer changes fast, so effort management beats pace math.
- Half marathon, a 5-mile trail run, and a Sky Climb fill out the weekend.
Course
The 2026 marathon uses two loops of a new front-side Schweitzer course, starting with winter cross-country trail before steep climbs, singletrack, and lake-view sections.
Race-day weather
Late June at Schweitzer can bring cool mountain air, sun exposure, or fast-changing weather. The climbs and trail surface make effort management more important than road-marathon pace math.
