Mt. Fuji International Marathon is a destination road race in the Fuji Five Lakes area. Runners circle Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Sai with frequent views toward Mount Fuji and the surrounding foothills.
Course
The certified 42.195-kilometer course uses mostly level lakeside roads around Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Sai, interrupted by a steep signature climb between the lakes. The race starts and finishes at Funatsuhama-Hirahama and has a six-hour limit.
Race-day weather
Early winter can be cold around the lakes, especially before sunrise and in shaded sections. Clear conditions can provide crisp mountain views, while wind and rapid temperature changes remain possible.
