Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB MY100

MY100 explores the rain-soaked highlands and forest around Taiping, beginning and ending at the city esplanade. The route climbs toward Maxwell Hill, locally known as Bukit Larut, and mixes tropical wilderness with unusual remnants of the area's transport history. Heat management, wet-foot care, and patience matter as much as climbing strength.

The 97.7-kilometer course gains about 4,802 meters. It combines rainforest trail, steep staircases, creek crossings, rough forest roads, and prewar railway tunnels around Maxwell Hill. Technical and more runnable sections alternate throughout the route, but humidity and sustained climbing can make even smoother ground slow.

Taiping has a tropical climate with high humidity and frequent heavy rain. Runners should expect warm conditions, wet ground, and the possibility of downpours that make roots, stairs, and creek crossings slippery. Hydration, foot care, and gear that remains useful when soaked are central to race planning.
