Madison Marathon presented by SSM Health

The Madison Marathon is a capital‑city tour with a start/finish on Capitol Square and routes that showcase lakes Mendota and Monona, the UW–Madison campus, and classic neighborhoods. It’s USATF‑certified and used by many runners as a late‑season Boston qualifier.

Expect rolling, honest hills and varied neighborhoods with signature sections through the UW Arboretum and along the lakes. Maps are published before race week; train for undulating terrain to keep your goal pace intact on the back half.

Early‑November weather in Madison is cold to cool. Typical highs trend from the low‑50s to upper‑30s with lows in the 30s and occasional wind—great marathon temps if you layer smartly.
