Starting before dawn near Ala Moana Beach Park, runners pass through downtown Honolulu and Waikiki, climb around Diamond Head and head out toward Hawaii Kai before returning to finish in Kapiolani Park. Honolulu Marathon course description
The course starts on Ala Moana Boulevard beside Ala Moana Beach Park, briefly heads toward downtown and Honolulu Harbor, then turns back through Chinatown and past civic landmarks such as Iolani Palace. Runners then move through Waikiki, loop around Kapiolani Park and climb the rolling hills around Diamond Head with sweeping views of the Pacific. From there the route follows Kalanianaole Highway on a long out and back through Hawaii Kai before returning along the same coastal highway to finish on Kalakaua Avenue in Kapiolani Park.
