About the Burn Your Half Off Half Marathon
Awesomesauce runs this race for the middle and back of the field rather than the front. Nobody is chasing a fast time in Tennessee in July, so the event leans into shade, ice, and a cutoff generous enough for walkers and stroller pushers who would be timed out almost anywhere else.
Course
The route is a multi-loop out and back on the paved Tennessee Riverwalk, starting near the Hubert Fry Center. Roughly half of it runs beside the river, past public art, playgrounds, and fishing piers, with views toward Chickamauga Dam. One hill; everything else is flat concrete with restrooms about every mile.
Race-day weather
Mid-July in Chattanooga is the whole idea. Expect mid-70s and heavy humidity at the 7:30 start, with temperatures climbing through the morning, so fluid and ice intake matter more than splits.
